100 kW solar cuts DrillMech’s power bills in half
A rooftop solar system that roughly halved grid consumption for a heavy machinery manufacturer serving the mining industry.
The challenge
What they needed
Electricity was a major cost for DrillMech at around $7,000 a month ($84,000 a year). They wanted to cut bills and reduce their carbon footprint across a 7,200 square metre site.
What we did
The solution
After a site inspection we designed a 99.9 kW system: 222 Risen 450W panels and a Sungrow 110 kW inverter, positioned to maximise sunlight and cut grid consumption by over half.

Why it matters
Key highlights
- Cut the monthly power bill from around $7,000 down to about $3,000.
- On track to pay for itself in around 2 years.
- Also moved from a diesel generator to an electric compressor on site.
- Designed for a busy 7,200 square metre working site.
