Why choose West State

Commercial EV Charging done properly

One accountable partner

Design, installation, management and maintenance all handled in house. No juggling multiple contractors.

Grid connection handled

We deal with the network operator on your behalf, so approvals are not your problem to chase.

Software included, not bolted on

Load balancing, payment options and usage monitoring set up as part of the install.

Designed against your demand charges

Solar, battery and charging sized together, so the whole system works on your biggest cost driver.

AC or DC, which does your site need?

The right choice comes down to how long vehicles actually sit at your site, not simply picking the fastest option available.

AC chargers, 7kW to 22kW

Slower and cheaper to install. Right wherever a vehicle is parked for hours: workplace car parks, hotels, offices.

DC fast chargers, 25kW to 350kW or more

Charges in minutes rather than hours, but costs more to install and usually needs a larger grid connection. Right for high turnover sites: shopping centres, public charging hubs, anywhere people need to charge and move on.

WA rebates and grants for EV charging

Ended

The WA vehicle purchase rebate has ended.

The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate, $3,500 off a new EV or hydrogen vehicle up to $70,000, closed to new purchases on 10 May 2025. If you have seen content saying otherwise, it is out of date.

Grant

Charger installation is covered by a different program.

The WA Government Charge Up EV Charging Grants co fund up to 50% of the cost of EV charger hardware, software and installation for eligible not for profits, small to medium businesses and local government authorities, covering chargers from 7kW up to 350kW.

Status

Applications are currently closed.

Round 3 closed on 30 June 2025. The program has run several rounds, so a future round is possible but not confirmed. Talk to us and we will let you know if a new round opens.

How it works

From site assessment to charging live

1

Book a site assessment

We look at your site, your electrical capacity, and how vehicles actually use the space.

2

Get a design and fixed price

A charging setup sized to your site’s real usage and load, with the grid connection requirements identified up front rather than discovered later.

3

Installation and connection

Our own licensed electricians install it, and we manage the network operator approvals.

4

Live, monitored and supported

Charger management software configured, tested and handed over, with ongoing support from the same team.

How we work

Built around your site, not a template

Most commercial EV charging projects mean juggling several parties, a network operator, an electrical designer, an installer, and someone else again for ongoing management. We do it differently.

01

One accountable partner, start to finish

Design, installation, ongoing management and maintenance are all handled in house. You are not coordinating contractors or working out who to call when something needs attention. It is us, for all of it.

02

We manage the grid connection for you

Connection delays and shifting technical requirements are consistently the biggest source of frustration in commercial EV and solar projects. We liaise directly with the network operator on your behalf, so it is not another thing on your plate.

03

Charger management software included

Load balancing, payment options and usage monitoring are set up as part of the install, not a separate system you have to source and integrate yourself. You get working infrastructure, not just hardware on a wall.

04

EV charging designed around your demand charges

Demand charges are one of the largest components of a commercial power bill, and EV charging adds serious load. We size your solar, battery and charging together so the system works against your demand charge, not just your total energy use. That is a design decision most charger installs simply do not make.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is the WA electric vehicle rebate still available?

No. The $3,500 vehicle purchase rebate ended on 10 May 2025. A separate grant for charger installation costs, Charge Up, exists but is currently closed between rounds.

What is the Charge Up EV Charging Grant?

A WA Government program co funding up to 50% of EV charger hardware, software and installation costs for eligible not for profits, small to medium businesses and local councils, covering chargers from 7kW to 350kW. Applications are not currently open.

Should my business install AC or DC chargers?

It depends how long vehicles stay. AC suits workplaces and overnight stays where cars are parked for hours. DC fast charging suits high turnover sites like shopping centres, where people need to charge quickly and move on.

Does West State handle the grid connection process?

Yes. We liaise directly with the network operator on your behalf. Connection delays are one of the most common frustrations in commercial EV projects, and it is not something we leave you to navigate alone.

Do you provide charger management software as well as hardware?

Yes. Load balancing, payment options and usage monitoring are set up as part of the install, not sold separately.

Can EV charging be designed to help manage our demand charges?

Yes. We size solar, battery and EV charging together specifically so the system works against your demand charge, not just your overall energy usage.

Do you service commercial chargers you did not install?

Yes, same as our solar servicing, we work on existing installations regardless of who put them in.
