Why our design is different
Built around you, not a template
West State designs every solar and battery system around the customer’s actual usage and roof, never a generic package. We size for where you’re headed, not just where you are today, so you’re not paying to redo it in a few years. We’re led by electricians, not a sales team, and we only install equipment we’d genuinely put on our own home.
Custom solar system design, not a cookie cutter package
A lot of solar quotes are built backwards, starting with a package the installer wants to sell, then fitting your home to it. It’s a real, documented problem in this industry: oversized inverters marketed as “future proofing” paired with undersized panels that don’t actually match what the household uses, or systems sized for today that leave the homeowner stuck a few years later. We do the opposite. We start with your electricity bills, your usage pattern, your roof and your goals. The package comes after, not before.
Future proofed for what’s next, battery, EV charging, or both
Your energy needs don’t stay still. Maybe you’re not ready for a battery yet, but you will be. Maybe an EV isn’t on the cards this year, but it will be in a few. A system designed only for today’s usage can leave you needing a second, more expensive job down the track, new wiring, a new inverter, sometimes both, just to add what you always knew you’d eventually want.
We design with that in mind from day one, sizing your inverter and switchboard with room for what’s next, not just what’s now. It can mean a slightly different design than the cheapest quote you’ll see, but it means you do this once, properly, instead of twice.
An electrician led solar installer
West State is led by electricians, not a sales team that outsources the install. That matters more than it sounds. When the people designing your system have actually spent years on roofs doing the install, they know what holds up long term and what looks good on paper but causes problems two years in. It’s the difference between a system designed to be sold, and a system designed to be lived with.
Solar and battery brands we actually trust
We don’t sell every brand on the market, we sell the ones we trust enough to install on our own place. That’s the actual test we use: if we wouldn’t put it on our own roof, we won’t put it on yours. It’s also why we’re a Smart Energy Council Endorsed Battery Installer, a standard we hold ourselves to, not just a badge.
Questions
Frequently asked
Does West State Solar design custom solar systems, or use standard packages?
Custom, every time. We design around your actual electricity usage, roof and goals, not a one size fits all package.
Is West State Solar run by electricians?
Yes. West State is led by electricians, not a sales team, so system design is grounded in real install experience.
Does West State design solar systems to allow for a battery or EV charger later?
Yes. We size the inverter and switchboard with future additions in mind, so adding a battery or EV charger later doesn’t mean redoing the wiring or inverter from scratch.
What solar and battery brands does West State Solar install?
Only brands we’d be comfortable installing on our own home. See our products page for the specific panel, battery and inverter brands we work with.
Who actually installs my system, West State staff or subcontractors?
Our own licensed, in house electricians install every job, start to finish, never subcontracted out.
